Wine & champagne bottles are commonly classified as either Champagne, Bordeaux and Burgundy bottles. There are others such as Port, Rhine, Mosel and Alsace. A guide to Champagne, Bordeaux and Burgundy classifications is provided.
Bordeaux Bottle Classification - Bordeaux style bottles have the straight sides and tall shoulders

Champagne Bottle Classification - have gently sloping shoulders and a "punt" at the bottom. A punt is a concave bottom of the bottle.
